We strive to provide a safe and secure user experience. The aim of this statement is to inform you how we will use any personal data which you provide through this web site. CFF complies with data protection legislation according to the German Bundesdatenschutzgesetz. This regulates the processing of information relating to you and grants you various rights in respect to your personal data. Our sites contain links to other web sites over which we have no control.
CFF is not responsible for the privacy policies or practices of other web sites to which you choose to link from this site. We encourage you to review the privacy policies of those other web sites so you can understand how they collect, use and share your information. This privacy statement applies solely to the information we collect on this web site and does not apply to information we collect in any other fashion.

Collection and Retention of Information
In some areas of our web site, CFF requests that you provide personal data, including your name, address, e-mail address, telephone number, credit card number, contact information, billing information and other information from which your identity is discernible.
If you register for one of our conferences, you will have to provide us with specific personal information (contact detail, address, job specifics, etc.). In the course of an application to one of our conferences, you will use our application to upload a CV and will be providing us with personal data which we will use in accordance with this statement. We strongly suggest that your CV should not contain data relating to your (i) racial or ethnic origin (ii) political beliefs (iii) philosophical or religious beliefs (iv) membership of a trade union or political party (v) physical or mental health (vi) sexual life or (vii) the commission of criminal offences or proceedings. If your CV does contain such data, then you agree that we may retain this information and use it in accordance with this statement.

Use of Your Information by CFF
We use the information we gather on the web site during your application or registration to organize our conferences as well as to identify participants and select among applicants. We will save your CV until one year after the conference you applied for as a maximum in order to have a basis for year over year quality checks. We will delete your CV from our data basis afterwards and destroy any hard-copy in CFF's possession.
After the conference, CFF, however, keeps general contact details saved up to 10 years in order to be able to address you for promotional purpose of CFF related contents. Should you not consent with this, please be sure to have contacted us.
If you have so agreed to the further storage of your contact details, we may use your contact information in order to send you e-mail or other communications regarding updates at the web site, such as new CFF opportunities and additional listings which may be of interest to you.

Disclosure of Information to Others
We do not disclose to third parties your personal information except as set forth below.
We may disclose such information to third parties if you consent to such disclosure. You give us your consent if you apply and/or register for one of our events and check the box for your agreement with our privacy policy.
Third parties are exclusively our sponsors, partners and supporters. For example, if you submit your CV, then all parties with access to our CV database (or copies thereof) will have access to that data base. Mainly, these are our partners, sponsors and supporters, who evaluate your CV in order to identify participants for their workshops as well as candidates for interviews on campus or in the aftermath. Furthermore, companies supporting CFF may also have access to the CV database or a copy of it without necessarily having recruitment intentions. These are predominantly our media partners.
Furthermore, at the day of the conference, we preserve the right to hand-out lists which give a brief overview over all participants to all present participants of the respective conference. These lists usually contain only basic information like full name and organization (university, company…).
We may disclose personal information if legally required to do so, if requested to do so by a governmental entity or regulatory authority or if we believe in good faith that such action is necessary to: (a) conform to legal requirements or comply with legal process; (b) protect the rights or property of CFF or its affiliated companies; (c) prevent a crime or protect national security; or (d) protect the personal safety of users or the public.

Other Uses of Information
CFF may also share aggregated anonymous information about visitors to its web sites with its clients, partners and other third parties so that they may understand the kinds of visitors to CFF's site and how those visitors use the site.

CVs
We attempt to limit access to our CV data base (or copies thereof) to as few as possible. We are not responsible for the use made of CVs by third parties who access such CVs while they are in our searchable database. Our partners, sponsors and supporters are notified about the restricted use of your CVs which allows them only to make use of them in the context with our conference. You may remove your CV from our searchable database at any time; details of how to do this are given below. In this case, however, you also do cancel your application and/or participation. A re-application for the same conference is not possible. However, our partners, sponsors and supporters, who have access to that database or to a copy of that database, as well as parties who have otherwise gained access to the database may have retained a copy of your CV in their own files or databases. We are not responsible for the retention, use or privacy of CVs or profiles in these instances.
If you provide us with details of a referee, it is your responsibility to ensure that the person is aware that you have forwarded his/her details and has consented in writing for you to do so.

Updating or Deleting Your Information
You may review, correct, update or change your CFF account profile information at any time. Simply log into your CFF account, go to your profile, review your account information and, if you wish, edit it with the options provided. You cannot alter, edit or delete your CV. You can solely delete. This implies a cancellation of the application/participation of the respective conference.
If you wish to delete your CFF account profile information or CV at any time, please contact us. We will process your request as soon as possible.
If you wish to revoke your consent to our privacy statement, please contact us. However, please note that if you do withdraw your consent, you may not be able to use the relevant services and your CFF account profile information will be deleted.
If you opted to receive newsletters, commercial e-mails or other communications from CFF or third parties at the time you registered, but subsequently change your mind, you may opt-out by editing your account profile as described above. If you previously opted not to receive such communications, you may later opt-in by editing your account profile.
You may access all your personal data stored and processed by CFF and may correct, update or delete such information by contacting us.

Security
CFF has implemented appropriate technical and organizational measures designed to secure your personal information from accidental loss and from unauthorized access, use, alteration or disclosure. In particular, all account and password data is encrypted (i.e. it is scrambled between your computer and CFF's servers) and all traffic which is internal to the CFF network (such as billing information and CFF's access to our database) is also encrypted. Notwithstanding such measures, the Internet is an open system and we cannot guarantee that unauthorized third parties will never be able to defeat those measures or use your personal information for improper purposes. You should be aware that CVs you complete at your current place of work may be monitored by your current employer.
When you place an order online at CFF, your credit card information is protected through the use of encryption, such as the Secure Socket Layer ("SSL") protocol. SSL makes it difficult for your credit card information to be intercepted or stolen while being transmitted. CFF uses a service company to process its credit card transactions. For further information on this company's privacy and security practices, please contact Telecash GmbH und Co. KG.

Evaluation Criteria of CVs
The submitted CVs form the basis for the identification of the participants of CFF's conferences. We are looking for applicants who combine a broad range of experience with reputable firms and companies, further, a focus on the respective topic of the conference, internationality and compelling academic performance.
The CVs are evaluated by processors who are committed to privacy. The evaluation process follows are predetermined scoring. Every CV is attached with a scorecard on which at least three independent evaluations are marked. The evaluation is separated into the categories Academia, Work experience, Extracurricular Activities and Others. The sum of the points from each category is the overall application value. The values from each individual assessment by our processors are averaged. This average is the value which positions the application in comparison to the other candidates. Invitations are made top down until we have sufficient participants. As our budget is limited and we offer travel subsidies, we may form separate rankings for each region and select region by region in respect to our budget for travel subsidies pay-out.

The key drivers for the different categories are as follows:
Academia
Reputation of schools, internationality, grades
Work experience
Reputation of employers, field of activity, responsibility, overall length, focus
Extracurricular Activities
Intensity, variety, claim
Others
Anything which rounds up the profile, but has not been evaluated yet.
