Dr. Michael Pickel

CEO, E+S Rück

Dr. Michael Pickel’s tenure as CEO at E+S Rück started in 2019 – he has been a member of their Executive Board since 2000. Dr. Pickel has also been a member of Hannover Re’s Executive Board since 2000 and is responsible for the target markets of non-life reinsurance in North America and Continental Europe, as well as for the Legal Department and Run Off Solutions. Prior to that, Pickel, who holds a doctorate in law and is an assessor, was Head of the Treaty Reinsurance Department for the Rest of Europe and South America. He also acted as Head of the Legal and Claims Department at Gerling Global Re for four years. There, between 1991 and 1996, he was Assistant to the Managing Director of Property and Life Reinsurance in Milan.
